Located in the heart of Hurstbourne Tarrant, The Great Decoy is a classic English country pub with rooms, surrounded by the rolling countryside of the Test Valley.
During the Second World War, the site of the pub and the surrounding countryside was used by the British Army as part of a network of decoy sites designed to mislead enemy aircraft by drawing bombing raids away from strategic targets. The new name pays homage to this lesser-known chapter of local history while marking a fresh start for the pub as it begins its next chapter under Chickpea’s stewardship.
We’re looking for passionate people to work with us – whether it’s whipping up crowd-pleasers in the kitchen or chatting with locals from behind the bar – we’d love to hear from you.

Each hand-stretched pizza begins with our signature sourdough base, fermented for depth of flavour and that perfect chewy crust. Toppings follow the same philosophy as the rest of our kitchen: seasonal, thoughtful, and generously layered. From simple, beautifully balanced classics to bolder combinations, every pizza is designed to feel both familiar and a little bit experimental.
